The Office of Emergency Management works to mitigate, plan, and prepare for emergencies on the UT Tyler campus, educate the campus community about preparedness, coordinate emergency response and recovery efforts, and collect and disseminate critical information. The Office of Emergency Management operates the University Operations Center (UOC) which serves as the incident command post during critical incidents on the UT Tyler campus.

A search for a stabbing suspect is in progress near UT Tyler and the surrounding area. The suspect is a black male, 5'7", 150lbs, wearing a gray hoodie and cargo shorts and is possibly armed with a knife. A second suspect was spotted in a rust colored Ford Pickup truck but there is currently now known description. Emergency personnel are currently responding to this incident and University officials are monitoring the situation. If you are in the affected building(s), lockdown To keep yourself safe and avoid impeding the emergency response, please avoid the UT Tyler campus until further notice.
Unless you need to report an injury or critical information, do not call nine one one or the University for information about the situation.
Updates will be provided via PatriotALERT as needed until the situation is resolved.
