Lockdown Lifted

A message from UT TYLER

UT Tyler Alert.  Lockdown lifted.  After an extensive search, suspect described as black male, 5'7", 150 pounds, wearing gray hoddie and cargo shorts, has not been located and is no longer believed to be in the general area. If you are on campus, remain aware and notify the police at (903) 566-7300 if anyone matching suspect is observed.  If you are leaving, use caution as you walk to your vehicle.  Again, lockdown is lifted at this time.

This is an official emergency alert message from UT Tyler Emergency Management.
A search for a stabbing suspect is in progress near UT Tyler and the surrounding area. The suspect is a black male, 5'7", 150lbs, wearing a gray hoodie and cargo shorts and is possibly armed with a knife. A second suspect was spotted in a rust colored Ford Pickup truck but there is currently now known description. Emergency personnel are currently responding to this incident and University officials are monitoring the situation. If you are in the affected building(s), lockdown  To keep yourself safe and avoid impeding the emergency response, please avoid the UT Tyler campus until further notice.
Unless you need to report an injury or critical information, do not call nine one one or the University for information about the situation.
