Gasoline Tanker Accident at Loop 323/Troup Highway

There has been a traffic accident involving a gasoline tanker and another 18 wheeler at the intersection of Loop 323 and Troup Hwy. Haz-Mat and law enforcement personnel are on the scene. Emergency response personnel are requesting drivers to avoid travel in that area due to major traffic congestion. UT Tyler employees are advised to take an alternate route when leaving today.

Major Accident Blocking Troup and Loop 323

All streets leading to the intersection of Troup Highway and Loop 323 have been blocked off as emergency personnel work a wreck involving two 18-wheelers.

One 18-wheeler, a gas tanker, has overturned and was spilling gasoline on to the street, according to a Tyler Police Department news release. The Tyler Fire Department HazMat Team is on the scene.

Police have blocked Troup Highway, Loop 323, Paluxy, Golden, Old Troup and Lindbergh leading to that intersection, the news release states.

There is no information about the identity or status of the drivers or the cause of the wreck.

A second wreck with injuries also has been reported at the same location, according to the news release.
