Tornado Warning

A message from UT TYLER EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS (PATRIOTALERT)

TORNADO WARNING   This is an official emergency alert message from UT Tyler Emergency Management.   The National Weather Service has issued a TORNADO WARNING for the City of Tyler. This includes the UT Tyler main campus. Immediately move to the designated tornado shelter area in your building. This is a dangerous storm and you need to act immediately. If you wait until you see or hear the tornado, it may be too late.                                                                          In order to protect yourself: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LEAVE BY FOOT OR CAR. It is unsafe at this time. Move to the designated tornado safe area in your building (indicated on signs in campus buildings). Do not go outdoors to get to a shelter. Remain sheltered until given the all-clear. If unable to get to shelter, move to an interior room on lowest level of building without windows and take cover. Stay away from glass doors and windows and avoid auditoriums, gyms, lecture halls, labs and haz-mat storage areas. Emergency personnel are currently responding to this incident and University officials are monitoring the situation.    Unless you need to report an injury or critical information, do not call 9-1-1 or the University for information about the situation.   Updates will be provided via Patriot ALERT as needed until the storm passes.
